This one is courtesy of Cal (Nashville). Goal is to balance out the schedule difficulty, and add a bit of extra flair to each weekly matchup and make for 2-week playoff rounds as of round 2 to remove the "luck" factor
Details:
1) 1st and 2nd scoring periods merged 2) Playoff rounds 2,3,& 4 are two weeks long 3) Finals end a week early to avoid teams benching players 4) Every week you have two match-ups running simultaneously allowing you to play every team exactly twice before the playoffs.
Here is what it would the schedule would look like assuming there is 26 scoring periods like this year (can easily alter if there is more or less). Periods 1-2 = Merged Periods 3-18 (16 double match-ups in total, two of these periods would need to see each team have an extra match-up to allow playoffs to start on time) Periods 19 = Playoff round 1 Periods 20-21 = Playoff round 2 Periods 22-23 = Playoff round 3 Periods 24-25 = Playoff round 1
No poll for this one, would like to hear your vote through a comment feedback. Not to sway votes, but I really like this approach and double (+ one triple) matchup weeks sounds fun without any extra work for you (just need to set daily lineup). If overall mood is positive, we will implement this for next season.

I like the idea, any way we could set it up so we play 82 games a year just like the real nhl?

We are trying to KO the last week of the regular season cause it causes a lot of the guarunteed playoff teams to rest their stars for the playoffs and the last thing you want is to see your star players scratched or half assing it in the finals of your hockey pool.
