Hi Fellas,
My first resign as part of this league, so really sorry if this contract isn't great - hopefully it is! If not, would love feedback so I can learn!
T.J. Oshie
2015/2016: 1.55 (68GP) - Tier 1 2014/2015: 1.33 (80GP) - Tier 2 2013/2014: 1.36 (72GP) - Tier 2 2012/2013: 1.31 (79GP) - Tier 2
The Washington Capitals are pleased to offer T.J. Oshie a contract extension of $22.5 million over three years ($7.5 million cap hit). The rationale is as follows:
Oshie falls within the $8-9mm salary range for his most recent season. However, given this excerpt from the resign rules, "b) Has the player had 2+ full seasons in the past where he was in a lower production tier? i. If yes, salary range MAY be one step lower," Therefore, I believe he should be signed to contract in the tier below the 1.55-1.69 tier. Since it is a long-term deal, he is eligible to be one tier below his most recent season given the above rule in bold. For what it's worth, his weighted average of production is also 1.38, which is two tiers lower than his most recent season.
Best, Julian

Welcome aboard...
The rules say he should be between 8-9m a year but with previous results being lower you can go down a tier which is 7.5-8M
My personal thoughts is he is a 1.3 ish player which seems to be consistent level for him with a possibly outlier season last year. My only concern is he may require a bridge deal but i am not 100% sure on this
I am ok with this offer

Yeah Chris is right, based on the rules this should be a bridge deal. The per year number is fine, but needs to be max 2 years:
Tier Guide (Full NHL Season = 41+ games) DEPTH: under 0.8 fpts/game Tier 3: 0.8 to 1.09 fpts/game - Oshie - 16/17 Tier 2: 1.1 to 1.49 fpts/game - Oshie - 13/14-15/16 Tier 1: 1.5 to 1.89 fpts/game ELITE: over 1.9 fpts/game
Bridge Contract Rule: 2 year max contract term Players who fall into one or more of the following criteria are subject to the Bridge Contract Rule:
a) 2 or less full NHL seasons (41+ games) played in last 4 NHL seasons b) Production tier in most recent season has not been replicated in players recent seasons (move to step 4) c) Production tier in 2 or more previous full seasons (41GP+) are higher than production tier in most recent season (move to step 3b to see if it applies)
Sorry to be so hard on ya Julian in your first week haha...

I agree that he should be on a bridge deal based on his most recent season tier not being replicated in previous seasons. Salary seems fine to me.
Disapproved 1-2

gonna lock the thread since Toronto states it is an invalid offer
Washington,
the numbers were fine but should be a 2 year deal.
