I think this will be interesting because last year he was a starting goalie in Vancouver. This year he is clearly a backup goalie and his starts will go down considerably as his career winds down
Ryan Miller
2016/2017: 74.7 fpts (54 games) Tier 3
2015/2016: 67.7 fpts (51 games) Backup
2014/2015: 113.1 fpts (45 games) Tier 2
2013/2014: 98.1 fpts (36 games) Tier 3
His last 2 seasons were in the high end of the 1.5m - 3m tier. Given his recent move has cemented his status as a backup and he will likely only start half the games he did previously our offer will be lower than if he stayed in Vancouver and was possibly a starting goalie.
Buffalo offers 2 years @ 1.5M

This is a tough one. Gibson is the #1 goalie in ANA for sure, but he also only played 52 games last year and 40 in the previous season. Also Miller played on the 2nd worst team last season and is moving to arguably one of the better teams in the league. I think we will see Miller play close to 30 games next year and for comparable backups on good teams in 16/17:
CHI Darling 32 GP - 76 FPts STL Hutton 30 GP - 57.5 FPts NYR Raanta 30 GP - 75 FPts WAS Grubauer 24 GP - 62 FPts SJS Dell 20 GP - 50 FPts
I think the chance of Miller playing 20 games or less is very slim and I also think he will put up a better FP/G than the last few seasons. I would like to see him make something more like 2.25 M.

None of those are 37 year old goalies who are on a massive decline at the end of their career. I strongly disagree with you that someone becoming a backup is more desirable than a starter on a bad team.

I think this is a really tough one, with his age and new team. I totally agree with you that he is on the decline, and now he is cemented in as a backup. With that being said, Anaheim has a better team (and defense) to play in front of him, and stats wise, he is a top 30 goalie. I would like to see a contract at 2mil+, and would maybe recommend a 1 year deal to wait and see how he does in ANA. Good luck!

I have to decline this 3-0
His numbers don't justify his salary being so low, even if he will be a backup. I suggest a 1 year deal with a more generous salary better reflecting his ability.
