I think it is safe to throw out Fleury's 16-17 season, because not only was it his worst season statistically since 05-06, but he was was splitting time with Murray. With that in mind, knowing that he is a full time starter, and he is relatively consistent year to year, I have a hard time believing that he is worth anything under $7M, and I would probably say $7.25M is a good number.

Thanks for the input. Was wondering what you guys see as the main difference between Fleury and Gibson?
To me Gibson is more desirable going forward, but I’m paying Fleury more money on less term.

For me, both guys are similar in the fact that they both have a season to throw out, either due to injury, sharing time with another very good starting goalie. So if you throw out those seasons, MAF is at about 152.23 per season, and Gibby is at 139.95. I agree that because Gibson is younger, he is more desirable, but he also plays on a weaker team than MAF, which kind of balanced it out for me. The difference between about 12.25 points per season should be worth about $750k-$1M on the rubric, and that kind of was the difference to me. Gibby is also not quite as proven, because he has the amazing year last year, but MAF has 2 seasons of that quality in just the past four seasons, and 3 of his four are better than all but one year of Gibby

I don't want to be that guy and just agree with what was said, but they are hard points to argue. While Gibson would be the choice for most teams, MAF has been a monster.
