Dont knowb if i can get behind anything but a one year deal for him. Theres just way too much potential there. He should get a cheap 1 year deal like radulov, then paid accordingly.... or atleast a richer contract for 2 years

i agree with Shane on this. We are being told he is the next Panarin and if he was an UFA in frozen today i can see someone offering 5m/yr. I also don't expect you to pay for him with no track history as that isn't fair.
imo a 1.9m 1 year show me contract is the way to go and a future resign based on this years stats. If he is good you get the a slight contract savings and if he isnt you can demote him without cost.

I'm okay with this by the rules. Will likely be a huge steal for year 2, but he could also be another Shipachyov situation where he doesn't immediately crack the NHL.

I'm alright with this since he is using it as one of his resigns. Basically he's getting an extra year of him playing instead of a 1 year RFA resign contract.

I see arguments for both sides for sure. But this year for resigns it seems real-life factors are valued in contracts now. If this was a no-name guy then I doubt anyone even cares, but like Chris and Shane said, he isn’t a nobody.
I think a 1 yr deal would be better at that amount.
Sorry Cal, I’ll have to decline.

If Cal had signed this deal last summer no one would have argued but now that he's apparently in the NHL, although never played a game and Vegas can't afford him it's a different story?
Cal traded for him and had the patience to hold onto him, also he is no lock to produce like so many other Russian phenoms before him.
The rules say this is ok and i'll allow it.

Yeah I got a notification and was like wait what.
I think maybe players in these types of situations should be addressed for the future?
