2019/2020 1.47 fpts/g - 63 GP Tier 2
2018/2019 1.18 fpts/g - 82 GP Tier 2
2017/2018 0.86 fpts/g - 82 GP Tier 3
2016/2017 1.04 fpts/g - 81 GP Tier 3
I'd like to offer $3,750,000 X 3 Years

0-1 Denied
Upwards trend & two tiers lower in prior seasons cross each other out.
I’m going to suggest 5M x 3 years.

Also agree here, have to pay for extra year, and the upwards trend cancels out the not replicated clause.
0-2

0-3. As a former owner of Nelson in another league, I wouldn't suggest going LT lol. Have to agree with Cal for the 3 year #. I'd be okay with 4.25 for 1-2 years though given the big jump.

Just to get some more feedback, we'd be okay with 4.25 for 1-2 years? Didn't Barzal just get that for 4 years? crazy. 5M for 3 years? Boeser got 5.75 for 4. What're we doing here

I didn't like the Barzal deal either but his last 2 seasons were below 1.3 fp/g.
The most important # in any re-sign is what they did last season, Nelson was 1.47 fp/g which is 5.65 m in the rubric and is your starting point and you can use his past years to bring it down .
Boeser has actually slowly come down from his career high and his last season was 1.36 fp/g.
The Boeser and Barzal name value make their deals seem low but fact is Nelson had a better season fantasy wise than both of those guys.
2 x 4.25 is the absolute lowest we can allow based on the rules, if you want 3-4 years you need to offer more for his steady upward trajectory on paper.

I guess so, just kinda crazy how much him getting a little hot in a shortened season influences it. I'll obviously just repost for 4.25 X 2 or whatever, but it just doesn't seem right lol.

Going by the numbers, the most important year to look at is the most recent year. Barzal probably is going to be a better overall player, but 1.47 (Nelson) and 1.28 (Barzal) are a pretty cut and dry case. Barzal is severely hindered by his FO%, so he isn't the fantasy player he might seem, at least not yet. We can't look too much into upward trend, if a player hasn't shown upward trend.

For me it was mainly the term, both of the contracts I mentioned being 4 years.

And while that might be fair, it is not currently within the rules to force someone to pay above what a player has/is producing just because we think there is a possibility they might become a better player.

I wasn't basing him paying more off of Barzal doing better actually, at 1.28 fpts/g he would be placed at the top of the 3.5M-4.25M range, right? And typically we upcharge for even a 3 year deal from what I've seen. So I guess it being a 4 year term made it not so "cut and dry" for me.
