2020/2021: # fpts/game (# games) 1.53 (56) Tier 1 2019/2020: # fpts/game (# games) 1.05 (63) Tier 3 2018/2019: # fpts/game (# games) .97 (53) Tier 3 2017/2018: # fpts/game (# games) .84 (50) Tier 3
Jakob is coming off a career season. He's been a Tier 3 player for most of his career, but last year he was dominating. He skipped Tier 2 for production, but he has not 2 seasons below his last season, but 3.
Now you may argue, well he was healthy last season, exactly. We have to take his health into consideration. He's had two major knee injuries.
The Blackhawks offer 3 years @ 5m.

Realistically to start this should be a bridge deal. Also his production has been in a clear upward trend, so should also move up a salary range. If you want to sign him to a 3 year deal instead of a bridge, he needs to move up even more
So I think even at 2 years this needs to be higher, at 3 years it needs to be a lot higher
0-1

0-2. My approval estimations:
1-2 @ 5.75M (bottom of 1.5 range given the clear upward trend) 3 @ 6.25M 4 @ 6.5M (max of 1.5-1.59 tier)

Do his knee surgeries mean nothing?

0-3. If injuries are a big concern to you, a shorter deal would be advised. I could be talked into 1x5.25, 2x5.75, but with three years and a clear upward trend, it has to be more. Also, he played every single game last season, and his last major injury was three seasons ago, so not something I would be worried about.

Do his knee surgeries mean nothing? Not to him, he just played every game last season , he is cured!
