If the majority votes yes, it will still not be mandatory, we would just split the pot via the contributers.
Eg. 1st = 60% of prize pool 2nd = 30% of prize pool 3rd = 10% of prize pool
1st - Toronto - contributed = wins 60% of prize 2nd - Chicago - didn't contribute = 0% of prize 3rd - Las Vegas - contributed = wins 30% of prize 4th-6th didn't contribute = 0% of prize 7th - Hartford - contributed = 10% of prize
What do you guys think?

How much were you guys thinking? I would be alright with it being $20 the first year, and then increase it by $10 a year until it is up to $40 or $50. Just a suggestion if people are kind of on the fence about it at first.

Personally 20$ is fine for me. Just enough that it will keep you interested in the season at hand and to make sure you don't ruin the future of your franchise.
It would be cool to put in 20 for the year and 10 for a collective pool that is cumulative and in say 5 years whoever has the most points gets the majority of the winnings.
Eg. 1st - 2017 = 20 pts 5th - 2018 = 15 pts 16th - '19 = 5 pts = 40 pts for 3 years ect.

im cool with a fee
id distribute it between the two finalists (SC Winner + SC Finalist) and a prize for finishing 1st overall in the league (or 1st in each division)
but im ok with it regardless of how itll be distributed

Yeah I think rewarding the Cup winner, Cup finalist and 1st overall from regular season would be the fairest distribution as well. Deserve some compensation for winning the regular season in fantasy hockey! I've seen a lot more teams win playoffs off hot teams than off stacked teams that ran the gauntlet through the whole season.
I think $20 is a good amount as well for the start.

$20 is fine with me, however we should layer in the cost of Fantrax premium as well, so maybe $15 and another $5 for Fantrax premium, it will make everyone's league experience so much better!

Need to confirm a few things:
1) If it's set at $20 (seems to be consensus) - what currency? CAD or USD. I lean towards USD, but it would drive the cost up for the Canadians/Kiwis in the league 2) How do we collect and hold the money? Couple options have been brought forth. 1) Leaguesafe.com (minimal/no fees depending on payout), 2) Send money to me and I hold it 3) Full list of all teams committed - teams may not wish to participate (rebuild team/gambling averse), and will not be required to, so need to figure out fully who is in 4) League payout. My suggestion: Full prize pool - cost of trophy (dynasty league afterall) = Prize --> League winner=60%, runner up=20%, 1st overall in standings=20%
Have a few weeks to figure it out so let's continue the discussion and come up with a way that everyone is comfortable with.

1. Cool with $20 USD to keep things consistant 2. I'm cool with etransferring to you (doubt you would burn any of us after putting so much effort into running this) 3. I'm in, willing to increase as the years go on if more people are interested in buying in 4. I'm alright with the payout scheme, and league trophy would be amazing too. We need a name for the cup too, and maybe a little trophy for last place too or one of those participation medals that you got as kid for losing in timbits hockey

I'm down. I like everything you've said so far. Sign me up. We can do a vote for money, but it sounds like 20 is a safe bet.
