This one was suggested to me a few weeks ago and I've been slow to get it posted.
Since we are a 20-team league and there are 31 starting goalies in the NHL at any time, that leaves 9 teams at an immediate disadvantage as they won't have a second starting goalie (unless one gets injured, then it's the other team with the disadvantage).
This proposal is to flex the 2nd goalie position for a skater position. Teams can choose night-to-night if they want to start 2 goalies or 1 goalie and 1 skater to maximize points. Proposal to flex the position instead of dropping it is to not screw over teams who have paid to acquire a 2nd starting goalie since league inception. Goalies still are one of the most valuable positions, so flexing the position won't alter their value and creates a new layer of strategy.
The vote will be open for 2 weeks. As this is a fairly major change, it will require a 70% approval to pass. Whenever you vote, it would be great if you could also leave a short comment on why you voted yes/no.
If you would like additional information on it, feel free to discuss with here or in private before voting.

100% for this, but it should start at the beginning of next year. This is a big change, and should come into effect at the beginning of the year.

Love this idea. In a league where there are only 31 possible starters and 20 teams, only half the teams can have 2 legit goalies in the active starting roster, and sometimes for example with Raanta and Arizona you wouldn't really count him as a valuable starter at the moment.
It also is good for teams that rely on 2 goalies because Goalies still have potential to put up massive points and gives those owners flexibility if their starters get injured.
A perfect solution for everyone and helps everyone have the same level of competitiveness.

I'm all for this.
Whilst I feel it actually hurts me right now, I think it's in the best interest of the league to make our roster more flexible as starting goaltenders are extremely hard to acquire.

This makes perfect sense to me. Doesn't hurt those GMs who went out and acquired a 2nd starter. It also makes teams with only one goalie more competitive as they can at least start an extra skater instead of having an empty slot potentially facing off versus a starting goalie. I like it.

A great suggestion. Only makes the league better. How many times I’ve had an empty roster spot because of that goalie spot...
