Matt Murray 2017/2018: 81 FPTS (49 GP) – Tier 3
2016/2017: 134.9 FPTS (49 GP) – Tier 2
2015/2016: 39 FPTS (13 GP) – Backup
Murray falls into the bridge category because his “production tier in the most recent season has not been replicated in players recent seasons”.
Murray is an interesting contract, because he only has 2 full NHL seasons which differ vastly – making it hard to gauge where he falls exactly. According to the rules, we “take the player’s production from the most recent season to determine his salary range”.
At his best, he is worth 6M, but at his worst, he is worth 3M. I am willing to meet halfway to make the deal fair.
Offer: 2 years @4,500,000

I'll approve. He's played approximately 50 games each over the last two seasons and hasn't proven himself as a consiten performer. This deal could easily be; a steal, a gross overpayment or an on par payment,
