Hi everyone, Quick touchpoint here. We've had a few GMs approach us this offseason about how the falloff and bridge contract rules are too restrictive and are making it difficult to stagger out contracts properly. We don't want to leave UFA completely devoid of talent, however being able to stagger out quality players would be helpful in allowing teams to keep their top players. While we work on updating the structure for re-signs, few changes for this year's re-signs: - Re-Sign Attempts are being increased to 3 (previously 2) for this year
- If your player falls into a bridge or falloff contract, and you think (based on their previous performance, weighted 4-year average and projection) that a longer term contract would work, feel free to offer one
- This isn't to open up discounts (player has one poor season out of last 4 and gets paid in that salary range), but to open up potential anomaly seasons to being able to be signed to long-term contracts
We don't want teams to lose out on any of the players they submitted to re-sign, so we'll try to be as clear as possible for salary guidelines (or if the situation as presented is not strong enough to go beyond the falloff/bridge rule). Any questions on the above, comment below. If you'd like to discuss a player's potential contract before re-signs, feel free to reach out to me on Whatsapp or via PM, always happy to provide guidance for re-signs .
