with Eakin & Laughton sidelined, i have roster spots AND over $3m cap, prospect to be signed and sent down to minors

Injuries do not open up cap space, only roster spots. Only players out for the year (LTIR) open up cap space in our league. Regular IR does not.

Rule for reference
3.9.1 Short-Term Injured Reserve This will be available to any player that is injured during the season. A GM may opt to move their player onto fantrax' injured reserve for the duration of the injury (until the player returns from injury). This move will open up a roster spot on the NHL roster, but does not free up any cap space.
